Transcribed letter from Thomas Johnson, Superintendent Manual Labor School requesting status of Ottawa and Wyandotte orphan children to Geo W. Manypenny, Commissioner of Indian Affairs dated Oct 5, 1855
Shawnee M.L. Schools
Oct. 5th 1855
Sir,
I sometime ago asked for information from your office whether I should continue to receive Ottowas + orphan Wyandott children into this school or not. They are waiting for instructions. Please let me know immediately. I think the Ottowas ought to be admitted at any rate+ I am also willing to admit the Wyandotts if you say so.
Yours with great respect
Thos Johnson
