Ethnobotany Class/Walk

Explore the grounds of the Shawnee Indian Mission with Mary Grinter, a Missouri Master Naturalist and graduate student of Indigenous ethnobotany. Grinter is a member of the Kansas Delaware Tribe and part-time employee at the Mission. She will lead participants along paved trials through the 12-acre site, sharing how Indigenous peoples and pioneers depended on plants for food, medicine, and daily life during the mid-1800’s.
Join us to discover how plants tell the stories of history, culture, and relationship to the land.
