Superintendt of Indian Affairs
Saint Louis Sept. 9. 1840
Sir
The enclosed letter from Major Cummin’s was received here during my absence last winter, & should have been forwarded to the Department on my return, but was overlooked in my hurry to leave here on official business for the West — My attention has been lately called to the Subject by Major Cummins, & the letter is now enclosed for your consideration.
I feel very certain that the request of the Indians respecting their school fund will not be complied with. The opinion of The opinion of Maj. C. respecting an additional supply of agricultural implements under the Supplemental Treaty of 1829 is respectfully submitted to your consideration.
Very respectfully
I am Sir
