Dear Sir;
The undersigned in company with Bishop Simpson, called last night on the President to express our fear that advantage would be taken of the unexpected changes of Administration to force through the private claim refered to in the within paper & he requested me to obtain information thereon as he had signed a patent during the day, will you grant us the needed information to meet the ends of equity and right.
I have the honor to remain your obedient servant

P.S. The President requested me to hold the within papers until he could learn more from it, I leave it with you as the proper place
