     I certify an, honor that the whole subject contained in the above letter, respecting the establishing a manual labour school by the Missionary Society of the Methodist E. Church at the site designated as above described and every thing connected or to be connected with the school as far as understood by me was fairly and fully by me explained to the chiefs and councillers [sic] of the Shawanee [sic] nation & by them to the Tribe in my presence, and that they the (Shawanee nation) gave their full & entire consent that the Society of Methodist might establish the school at the place designated with the privalidge [sic] of using as much land and timber as would be necessary for carrying on the establishment, the Rev. Thomas Johnson agent agreeing on his part to discontinue the mission which they have already established, among the Shawanees,

     If the Department aprove of the selection made for the establishment of the manual labour school among the Indians, The Rev. T, Johnson Respectfully Requests early information as he wishes to commence opperations [sic] as soon as possible
