Transcribed report of allowances that should be made to the Methodist Society for support of the Manual Labor School dated 1843

according to the returns the following allowances should be made to the Methodist Society for the support of the manual labor school, under the arrangement made with the Society in June 1838.

For the first year ending 1 Oct 1840——- 2,500 49 youths
         Second    “         “ 1 Oct 1841——- 2,500 78
         Third       “         “ 1 Oct 1842——- 2,500 97

add the promised donation for buildings 5000
making in all 12,500.

    The agent of the Society was paid as follows

    It is proposed for 1843 to make the following arrangement in lieu of that of 1838, vis.

fu 18 children of the Del. tribe pay out of their school funds 1,800
12          “ Kansas, or 100$ each for as many as 12 alloted not exceeding 18 1,700
Shawnees
Kickapoos out of Civilization in all if not less than ten
1,000
Iowa & Peoria 6,000

    The faculty have had at school during the years 1840 41 & 1842 besides those of indigent tribes, without funds to pay expenses.

for which they ask in appropriation out of their school funds (The Delaware have funds to end of 1842—2885.42 when all the interest is collected hereby?) gives $ of [?].

    The Kanzas 1858.25 when it is all collected [?] 18000$ misc. stock 2000$ farm and L & 1500$ to [?Stats?] in all of stock  21,500$) to be expended within this nation. see treaty.

    The efforts made and making by the Society for the education & civilization of the Indians seem to entitle us to the favorable notice of the Dept. Should the within arrangement meet the [?expectation?] of the Dept. the Indians will be made to pay their own expenses as far as their funds will permit, at the moderate cost of 100$ each for [?assurance for _____ is allowed?],–and the allowance out of the Civilization fund of 1000$ a year will aid the society in their expenses of those who are indigent and at the same time place the annual sum of 1500 at the disposal of the Dept. to aid other benevolent society who have or may engage in the work of Civilization.
