Indian Manual Labor School
Dec. 31st 1845
Hon Wm. Medill
Dear Sir,
Our school for the quarter ending this date has been as usual, interesting and successful, and it still enjoys the full confidence of all those who have improved its advantages. The scholars feel themselves at home, are cheerful and happy, We have great hopes that they will make useful men and women.
We have been afflicted with sickness in our Mission family this winter and have lost four of our pupils by death, two boys and two girls. The disease in each case was pneumonia.
All are now in good health.
There have been in regular attendance, the past quarter one hundred and one scholars, sixty two males and thirty nine females.
Of these were Delaware males | 14 |
Delaware females | 21 |
Total Delawares | 35 |
Males of other Tribes | 48 |
Females of other Tribes | 18 |
Total from other Tribes | 66 |
Making in all | 101 |
Respectfully submitted by your
most obt. servt.
