The Mission needs YOU to send in your testimony to the email address below by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2.  Why?  This is your ‘vote’ in opposition to SB 518 and the number of votes in opposition really matters.  You can keep it simple with 1-6 sentences expressing your opposition to SB 518.

Action Steps:
• Follow the new/updated instructions to submit your written testimony/vote.  (The instructions are below.)
• Submit it as soon as possible.  The deadline is this Monday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m.
• After you submit, please email salliebluejacket@shawneeindianmission.org to let us know you have completed it.

SB 518 represents a critical threat to the Mission. Time is not on our side.  Previous bills have been in the House, therefore the Senators are not at all familiar with the Mission and the reasons why conveying it to any single entity would threaten its future forever.  If you’d like to better understand the broader concerns and context surrounding this issue, please visit this document for background information.

Attached is a sample testimony.  Your message can be shorter or longer.  It’s definitely up to you.  The number of responses submitted will directly impact our ability to secure enough “no” votes to stop this bill. Your voice matters — and we encourage you to invite others to speak up as well. Every submission helps protect the Mission.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TESTIMONY/VOTE SUBMISSION:

The City of Fairway’s public relations team has graciously offered to compile and submit testimony on behalf of opponents to the bill.

Testimony is due by 7PM on Monday 3/2. Please email the testimony to our public relations team: Mihailo@Federicoduerst.com and Hayden@Federicoduerst.com. They will handle the submission of the testimony, including transmittal form and delivery of hard copies.

In the body of the email please include your Full Name, Title (if appearing on behalf of an organization, otherwise list “Private Citizen”), and intent to be a verbal conferee or submit written only testimony.
