Jim Lee is a proud member of the Shawnee Tribe and also a member of the Shawnee Indian Mission Foundation Board. Because of his interest in his tribe he has been coming to the Mission’s library for many years. He has also traveled widely to research his Shawnee ancestors and tribe. As you will learn in his video, his ancestors attended the Mission school. Jim put together this video to clarify the history he has documented by his current and long standing research. Concerned about publicly stated misinformation and wanting the public to know the truth about his people and their history at the Mission, Jim spent his own time to document the Mission’s past. While his desire to put forth a history documented by historic facts comes from his love for his tribe, he is not providing this history as an official Shawnee Tribe representative.
