A resident of Westwood and long-serving volunteer of the Mission passed away on Monday September 4th, 2023.  Linda volunteered as a founding board member of the Shawnee Indian Mission Foundation (SIMF).  Asked to serve by the city of Westwood and the Westwood Foundation, Linda helped to create and launch the SIMF. Through the years, Linda originally served on the executive committee as secretary, but ultimately took on the job of Foundation treasurer, providing detailed monthly financial statements to the Foundation board, for over 10 years.

Linda was always willing to serve to the Mission. When the need arose, she manned the front desk relieving the site director.  She always lent a helping hand at all the Mission’s major events including the annual Fall Festival. For several years, she was the co-chair of the Mission’s Holiday Party, gathering auction items and food donations to defray overhead costs. Her ability to get sponsors and auction items throughout the years is legendary and she would lead the charge with so many different aspects around the site. Linda served on the Foundation Board for over 13 years, but continued in a volunteer capacity.

Linda is greatly missed and she definitely left a lasting mark on all who worked with and loved her, as much as she loved the Mission.
