2021 Chili Cook-Off Curbside Reservations top 150! Announcing Painted Apron Drawing Winners!

The 2021 Chili Cook-Off and Painted Apron event was curbside pickup this year because of Covid. Over 300 people dined at home on delicious Ad Astra Market Chili after picking up their Chili Party Bag (each bag served 2) at the Mission on Saturday, February 6. In a light snow Mission volunteers scurried in and out of the East Building delivering the Chili Party Bags to patrons cars. It could not have gone more smoothly with patrons waiting in their cars only a few minutes before they were off!

Once the chili was picked up the rave reviews started coming in! Ad Astra Chili and the Old Muffin Factory Corn Bread Muffin mix were big crowd pleasers. Bonus goodies and coupons from Pryde’s in Westport, The Bar on Johnson Drive, Topper’s Pizza on Metcalf in Mission, The Salsa Grill Cantina on Martway in Mission, HyVee, Spicin Foods, The Range, and Estrella Azul were a delightful added surprise in the bags. A Mission volunteer rolled red and white checked gingham napkin and encircled with a handmade Mission napkin rings to add to the bag’s appeal. Cathy Bennett’s 2020 Winning recipe, Chili on a Mission topped it all off.

The Zoom Drawing for six Painted Aprons followed the same night at 7pm online. Contestants were entered one time for each party bag reserved. All the names were on a big wheel that whirred and spun for each apron….randomly picking winners. Suspense and squeals of excitement! The names of the winners of each apron are below.
