This could be the moment, your one and only chance to win a medal for running. It’s an un-timed, un-mapped virtual 5-K run or walk. And it can happen anytime—day, night or never—at your convenience, between November 9 and November 30.

The Fairway Parks and Recreation Department is hosting this virtual 5-K run/walk or one-mile kid-run to benefit the Mission. Anytime between the start and finish dates, simply complete a five-kilometer stroll or run – any two-footed locomotion. Then report your time to the Department if you want to compete for the Gold(-ish). If not, just enjoy the satisfaction of having completed the course, a course of your own making, indoors or out, track, trail or treadmill..

The first 100 entrants who sign up will receive a Miles for the Mission tee-shirt and a genuine, hang-it-around-your-neck-and-wow-your-friends medal. This is a couch potato’s dream: a race with no cones, no starting line, no timers, no refs and no spectators.

For registration information, entry fees and all the particulars, go to www.fairwaykansas.org and click on Special Events in the Parks and Recreation heading at the left of the screen. All proceeds go to the Mission to fund programs and activities at our site.
