Pictured above: Dads and Boy Scouts have fun volunteering at the Holiday Tree Sale!

For nearly 100 years the legacy of volunteerism has continued and is still alive and essential todayOf the 3 mission schools, Baptist, Quaker and Methodist, that existed in this area before the Civil War only the Methodist Mission remains.  Why?  A group of tenacious ladies believed that the Mission’s history would have value for future generations.  They petitioned the State of Kansas to acquire the property as a State Historic Site.

We have them to thank for the twelve acres with 3 of the State’s oldest buildings that is widely considered the most significant historic site in Kansas. Consider joining the citizens who support the Mission by volunteering yourself.  From small roles to large, you can play a part.

What could you do?  Events, education (for children & adults), daily operational support, planning, building relationships with support groups and reaching out to new groups of people, researching in the Mission’s library, merchandising Three Springs Market, grounds maintenance, serve on a committee or on the Foundation Board and more.

How much time does it take? Opportunities throughout the year based on when you are available.

  • 2-4 hours once a year(one time commitment) – assist with school or other tours, assist with events, help in the office, participate in a grounds clean-up day.
  • 8-12 hours a year (Monthly commitment dependent on role selected- spread out or same time) – a regular school group assistant, office helper, serve on an event committee, help in the library.
  • More than 12 hours a year (2+ hours/month)–website help, build relationships with potential support groups, participate on a committee (Communications, Education, Data Management, Resource Development, Library, Programs), be an Assistant or Chair of a committee, serve on the Foundation Board.
